Hey there Grondel Family!
Well I miss you guys very much! It's so weird that I'm gonna be gone for 2 years. I'm just waiting for them them to say alright your done so I can go sit in MY chair (not Levi's) and watch TV. ha. Well that wont be happening for two years!
Well things have been pretty busy! we are working very hard, from the moment we got here its been pretty busy. So I havent had much time to write. But the district i am in is great, everyone gets along fairly well. We probably have too much fun... But I'm the district leader so Im making sure we all help eachother with being more focused. It's hard because we study like all day and our brains hurt and are exhausted after hours of language study! And the friday after we got here we had to teach our first lesson to an "investiugator" in portugese and it was demoralizing and very humbling for all of us, we taught him again the next day and it was awful and then yesterday we got to class and they said we were teaching right then, so on the 2-3 min walk my companion and I planned a lesson, we had these book that helped out a ton. But the lesson went better than the other two! we actually felt the spirit for once, we tried to go off the lesson and say things in portugeuse sometimes and it was rough but we went for like 30-35 min. a little long but we felt alright about. I still have so far to go with all of it...teaching leading speaking...dang its crazy. But i'm just taking it one day at a time. The Elders in my district are 18 and 19. Ive been pretty impressed with the 18 year olds, although there immaturity shows here and there, their testimonies are SOOO strong and they can keep up just as well as everyone.
Thanks for the package! we have like the worst schedule...we have the earliest breakfast at 630 and the earliest dinner at 4! Thats like a late lunch!!! so stupid. So the food helps and tell the Burbidges thank you as well for the package, i dont have their email so i couldnt tell them. I might send my temple clothes home, Ill need my baptism clothes tho, but they gave us like a thousand books for learning portugese and stuff so I wont have very much room for much else in my bags. I'm gonna have to leave alot here for the other missionaries when I leave.
For the devotional on Sunday we had Vai Sakahema come, He played at BYU and was a kick returner and helped them win the Miracle Bowl with a sweet return and helped them to the National Championship and he played in the NFL for a bit. But He said that none of those experiances come close to his mission, he said that none of those have taught him as much or have been as impactful as his mission. It was cool.
My companion is an awesome country boy from tennesse, He's a great guy he went to byu for a year, before coming here. We went to the temple today and I noticed some more things this time and it was pretty cool. My district is very spiritual.
I dont have enough time to read and reply to all the emails so i will go print them off and reply to them next week. but Levis picture is cool! Did he keep plaing after it ripped open!
I love you guys and miss you a ton! I have that picture of y'all on my desk, and thanks for all the notes! I'm still finding them as I dig through my luggage! jacob you better be bigger than me! but Im almost up to 230 now with this food they got here. But we have to wear our jackets alot and I sweat like CRAZY. The chaffing cream is nice :)
